Wear White After Labor Day!

It is said time and time again, "No White After Labor Day!"
However, some rules are meant to be broken, well actually more like bent, especially when it come to fashion While you may want to skip the head-to-toe crisp white look between Labor Day and Memorial Day you don't however have to give up the "color" white all together.

Here are my 5 tips to wearing white after Labor Day:

  1. Skip crisp white for the main piece and choose something with warmer undertones. For instance: a crisp white tee works with an off-white blazer
  2. Unless it is winter white, off white, ivory, cream or some shade other than white white skip the head-to-toe look
  3. Pair your white pants or white blazer with tans, creams, browns, blacks, grays or even leopard to make it feel a little more fall-ish
  4. Bundle up. Just by adding a big cozy sweater or scarf you make the outfit work beyond Labor Day
  5. Put away the white pumps/heels and pair your white ensembles with nude, navy, black, gray (the options are endless really) heels/pumps or a great fall/winter boot

Below are 20 styles that nailed the Wear White After Labor Day look!

Cheers to the changing seasons and the fashion to go along with it!

Amp Up Your Workout Style

I will be the first to admit that sometimes I get into a workout rut. Sometimes, after work sitting on the couch with a glass of wine and junk reality tv sounds better than a sweat sesh.

Have you ever felt this way? Be honest. Well, if you are like me sometimes all I need to do to turn things around is go shopping. Yep, you read that correctly. If I am excited about my workout style then I am a little more excited to get going.

Below are a few ensembles to motivate you to get back into your favorite workout routine or to encourage you to try something new this summer.

Watermelon Jalapeño Mint Salad

This 4th of July spice up your get together with this fresh and easy
Watermelon Jalapeño Mint Salad.

I love this recipe for two reasons. It is easy and it is pretty much a combo of most of my favorite things...the bonus is how fresh and delicious it is. This salad will hit the spot on any hot summer day/night but it is also perfect to share with family and friends for the 4th of July!

Serves 6 (as a side)
Prep-Time: 20 minutes
Cook-Time: 8 minutes if you sauté the jalapeños (shown) but this is not necessary

What You Will Need:

1 Jalapeño
7 C. Cubed (bite size) Watermelon
1/2 C. Chopped Mint
Sea Salt (to taste and I only do this if I sauté the jalapeño)
1 C. Arugula
1/2 C. Crumbled Feta
1/2 C. Chopped Red Onion
Balsamic Vinegar
1 Tsp. Coconut Oil (if you sauté the jalapeño, shown below)

Let's Get Started:

1) Prep all of the ingredients:

  • Thinly slice the jalapeño (if you want to sauté it do so in the beginning so it has time to cool before adding to the salad. Keep in mind, if you do not like a lot of heat remove the seeds and if you want to turn up the heat leave the seeds in.
    • If you do want to crisp up the jalapeño slices use a sauté pan with 1tsp coconut oil (or oil of your choice) over medium heat until they start to get crispy, stir occasionally and add a pinch of salt or to taste. Again, you can always keep the jalapeño fresh (both ways are yummy and my hubby and I go back and forth on this).

  • Thinly slice and then chop the onion so you have 1/2 Cup chopped.
  • Chop up a 1/2 Cup mint.

  • Cut up 7 Cups of watermelon into bite-sized cubes.

2) Once all of the ingredients are chopped, sliced and cut up combine the watermelon, mint, onion and 1 Cup of arugula into serving bowl.

3) Toss all the yummy goodness together and then right before serving add 1/2 Cup crumbled feta cheese, the jalapeño slices and drizzle a balsamic vinegar lightly over the top.

I use this yummy local vinegar that I bought in the Carmel Village:

Bon Appetite!

I hope you all enjoy this delicous summer salad recipe. If you try it let me know what you think by leaving a comment below.

Summer Sandals!

One of my favorite parts of summer is living in sandals. I just recently stumbled upon Go JANE and they have so many fun, stylish and CHEAP sandal options...perfect for the girl that likes to fill her closet with new looks each season and is on a budget. Below is a sampling of what they have to offer your feet this summer!

Details:

2) Single Life Buckled Sandals ($15.40)

I honestly don't think any of the sandals are over $50!

Now, I have never personally bought any for myself so I cannot vouch for quality or comfort but when I saw all the cute styles and the price tags I got excited and had to share.

Share with us below if you know another great site for summer sandals!

Cheers to Sandal Days!
